To a woman who impacted us all...

In loving memory of Barbara G. Laurie

As both a mentor and a friend, Barbara G. Laurie was one of the few female African American architects we had the pleasure of knowing personally.

A 1985 graduate of Howard University's School of Architecture and Design, Barbara served the University for 20 years, concluding her tenure as Associate Professor of Architecture. After an award-winning association with Devrouax & Purnell Architects, she founded and was Managing Principal of DP+ Partners, LLC.

Most of us met her first at Hampton University, when Barbara spoke of her landmark work 200+,  a project providing focused visibility for African American women in architecture.

The vision she had falls directly in line with the goals of Architecture Barbie, so it was only right to honor her as her goals continue to impact future generations.
